In the spring of 2019, La Casa celebrated MEChA’s 50th anniversary and Sabrosura’s 10th anniversary. Dean Eileen Galvez and Assistant Director Carolina Dávila, along with an amazing committee of student leaders, planned and hosted a conference that also served as a Latine alumni reunion. At this conference, we revealed this special project - a series of panels featuring a summarized historical timeline of Latines at Yale (1969-2019). This project was made possible thanks to the labor of our volunteer student committee members: Esther Reyes YC ‘21, Diana Lopez YC ‘19, and Eddy Tzintzun-Tapia YC ‘22. This committee also had the support of some additional student volunteers: Alex Rocha-Alvarez YC ‘22, Emiliano Gómez YC ‘23, and Ricardo Aguilar YC ‘23.
While the students went through La Casa’s available archives to curate images and information, the visual layout of the panels was done by alumna Jacqueline Mejía-Cuéllar YC ‘16.
