Comedy Night with Karen Chee

Laugh and chat with comedian and Emmy-nominated writer Karen Chee on Thursday, April 6. Described as “unflinchingly cheery, happily ironic, [and] socially perceptive” (Harvard Magazine), Karen brings a young perspective and unique voice that draws her Korean-American heritage into her work.

Join us for a conversation with Yale College Dean Pericles Lewis and Professor Anjelica Gonzalez on how basic science becomes impactful through a focus on human needs. Prof. Gonzalez is Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Head of Davenport College, and Faculty Director at Tsai Center for Innovative Thinking at Yale. Her work focuses on engineering solutions for human diseases not addressed well in animal models. Prof. Gonzalez is co-founder of Aero Therapeutics, a company that develops respiratory devices for infants.

The Sweet Spot: Unplugged

Following on the success of the October 26 comedy night, The Sweet Spot is back with a new theme and an open invitation for Yale students to showcase their talents on The Underground stage! In this second installation of The Sweet Spot, the theme is acoustic and a cappella performances. Undergraduate, graduate, and professional students may register to perform. Performers may register as individuals or as groups. There will be limited sound gear on stage, so get creative. (Creativity is what makes The Sweet Spot so much fun!) Up to 10 minutes will be allotted for each performance.

Trumbull College Tea with Steve Wyche

As part two of The House’s Black History Month event series about the Kaepernick & America documentary, we will co-host a Trumbull College Tea featuring Steve Wyche, the reporter who broke the Colin Kaepernick story. He will share about his career in journalism, and the impact that the media had and continues to have on the Kaepernick saga and racial politics in general. This event is co-sponsored by Trumbull College and the Yale Journalism Initiative.
